In the Memory of Socks the Goblin Child

Light and shadow come and play,
In every tale, some might say,
In the past and in tomorrow,
In every laugh and in every sorrow,

Silence come in solemn times,
Where we go and hear the bell chimes,
Laughs and grins that once a starting,
Now are silent in his parting,

Memories of long ago play,
In the wisps of day to day,
Of the days of his cheer,
And of the times of his fear,

Child like wonder in his voice,
And the innocence of his choice,
Doomed our friend to his fate,
We can only hope it is not too late,

For once we live in fairy tale,
And many of us do wish to fare,
For only one thing waits us before the hereafter,
To find our happily ever after.
